About the GIC...

The Georgia Immunization Coalition (GIC) is comprised of agencies and individuals representing various community segments that are dedicated to improving immunizations.

GOALS:

  • To make information available to consumers, thus providing an opportunity to increase their knowledge regarding the importance of immunizations and to assist Georgia with meeting the Healthy People target vaccination requirements
  • To provide a forum to share activities and initiatives that are occurring statewide in order to prevent duplication of efforts
  • To promote a multidiscipline statewide approach to address process issues that impact immunizations

Originally founded in 1996 under the name Georgia Coalition to Stop Influenza, the coalition focus was flu and pneumonia. However, the coalition has expanded its role to include all immunizations. Membership has also grown to include all disciplines involved in the immunization process. Membership includes but is not limited to:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Georgia Department of Human Resources
Pharmaceutical Manufacturers
Georgia Medical Care Foundation
Maxim Health Systems
Public Health Departments
MedImmune GAAFP
ACP – Georgia component
Insurance Companies
Care Improvement Plus
Georgia Hospital Association
The Institute for Wellness and Education

Any person or organization that wishes to become a part of the coalition may contact Dr. Jonathan Marquess at 678-923-4263 for more information. No fees or paperwork are required, just active participation in the scheduled meetings.
